Natural Immunity to Measles Stronger Than Vaccination – (10-02-00)

August 19, 2013 by James Bogash

Natural Immunity to Measles Stronger Than Vaccination

Certain concerns with the widespread use of vaccinations are coming to light. There are issues previously mentioned in these newsletters with the links between chronic health complaints and certain vaccines. Now, we are starting to see that the body’s immunity after measles infection is stronger than one derived from vaccination. Some researchers are concerned that this reduced immune response with vaccination could have the potential for a devastating infection sometime in the future.

NVIC Says IOM Report Confirms 1999 FDA/EPA Order for Mercury-Free – (10-08-01)

NVIC Says IOM Report Confirms 1999 FDA/EPA Order for Mercury-Free

If just seems interesting that chiropractors have been warning about the dangers of vaccines for decades and been called heretics, unscientific and worse for this belief. And yet, as time progresses, we see more and more stuff arising about the dangers of the mass-immunization practice here in the US. How could anyone ever have considered mercury as safe to use at any level? The whole concept to me seems unfathomable. Now we see much backpeddling on the part of the governement agencies–thimerisol is safe, but we still need to spend millions getting rid of it. See any dichotomy here???

The nation’s oldest and largest vaccine safety advocacy organization, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), today called the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report evaluating whether mercury preservatives in vaccines have caused developmental delays in children a “confirmation” that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were justified in ordering drug companies to take mercury out of childhood vaccines in 1999. Although the IOM’s Immunization Safety Review Committee concluded there is not enough evidence to prove or disprove the hypothesis that mercury-containing vaccines have caused children to develop learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism, the IOM Committee found enough evidence that mercury can damage the human brain to recommend that mercury preservatives be removed from all vaccines and over-the-counter consumer products.”This IOM report confirms the obvious: mercury is bad for you and we shouldn’t be injecting our babies with it. Even though there have been too few controlled studies to confirm the relationship between mercury-containing vaccines and various kinds of brain dysfunction, the bottom line is that drug companies should have come up with a non-toxic way to preserve the stability of vaccines a long time ago. Now we need a comprehensive analysis of the potential toxicity of all other vaccine additives, starting with aluminum,” said Barbara Loe Fisher, co-founder and president of NVIC.NVIC has recently joined with SAFEMINDS, founded in 2000 by parents who believe their children were harmed by mercury in vaccines, in calling for the removal of all mercury-containing childhood vaccines from the market in the United States and for doctors to warn pregnant women that the flu vaccine contains mercury.

Impact of the 1999 AAP/USPHS Statement on Thimerosal in Vaccines – (03-08-01)

Impact of the 1999 AAP/USPHS Statement on Thimerosal in Vaccines

This review looks at the effects of the recommendations to delay the first after Hep B vaccine in newborns due to the presence of thimerosal, a mercury containing preservative. This review finds that the rates of vaccination dropped with the recommendation and have not return. A few things to consider. Hep B is a blood borne illness; transmitted via blood contact, unprotected sexual relations and IV drug use. How many infants are unknowingly exposed to these risks factors? Not many, I would guess. Infants borne of Hep B+ mothers know this. I would support vaccination in these infants. But a blanket recommendation to all infants? I have a problem with that. Not all infants are at risk. An additional note on the “safe” thimerosal. The mercury present in these vaccines given to infants can potentiall cause problems. The mercury is directly injected, thereby bypassing the GI’s ability to reduce absorption. The infant has no effective route of elimination of mercury via the bile. And the infant has not yet developed a strong blood-brain barrier to keep mercury away from nervous tissue. Does thimerosal still sound safe? The protective effect of childhood infections – (03-01-01)

August 7, 2013 by James Bogash

The protective effect of childhood infections

This is a nice editorial reviewing the importance of childhood infections in developing a healthy and balanced immune response in children. Remember that, on top of antibiotics and a more sterile environment not giving an infant’s Th1 response a chance to develop and mature, vaccinations are leading to a unbalanced, overdeveloped Th2 response. This has the potential to lead to such problems and allergy and asthma. The authors in this article do make a serious mistake, however. They suggest that science come up with some way to mimic the body’s response to infections through vaccination or passive immunotherapy. I just have to shake my head at the arrogance of science and medicine when it comes to trying to improve on nature.

Clinical preventive services can provide excellent value – (02-08-01)

Clinical preventive services can provide excellent value

At first glance, this editorial sounds like the author may finally be grasping what prevention is. Read a little further, and you find that his definition of “prevention” includes many cancer screenings, blood pressure checks and vaccinations. I’m confused. How can a cancer screening (i.e. LOOKING for cancer) be considered preventative (PREVENTING cancer)? We are looking for the disease in a screening; not preventing the onset of the disease in the first place. Let’s compare the cost effectiveness of a good quality multi on reduction in heart disease. And that same multi lowering risk of certain types of cancer. And preventing neural tube defects. The cost per lives saved would be a mere micro-fraction of similar “preventative” measures mentioned in this editorial. Why is the word prevention such a hard concept to grasp? Maybe the answer lies in the author’s bio…worked for the CDC and then was hired by Merck Pharmaceuticals…Any conflict of interest here?

Development of a strong Th2 profile in high-risk children w/ atopy – (07-12-01)

Development of a strong Th2 profile in high-risk children w/ atopy

Looking at another aspect of healthy Th1/2 balance, this article suggests that the first 6 months of an infants’ development is essential to creating a healthy balance. Maybe the studies that looked at antibiotic use connected to asthma should only look at it’s use in the first six months. It would be surprising if the data shifted even more convincingly towards being causative. Also, in the first six months of life, just how many vaccines do you think a newborn is exposed to? How about hep B? Hep B is mainly transferred through blood-blood contact in IV drug users and unprotected sex, and also in health care workers exposed to blood. Know many 3 month olds that partake in this behavior? No…? So why do we need a sweeping mandate to vaccinate them all?

Return of Haemophilus influenzae type b infections – (05-20-03)

Return of Haemophilus influenzae type b infections

It still amazes me how blindly the vast majority hop in line for vaccinations regardless or type or need. Everyone assumes that vaccinations are completely safe, and, furthermore, fully effective. Here the author suggests that the use of HIB vaccines may be setting the stage for more severe and frequent outbreaks in the future.

IOM Scrutinizes Link Between Vaccines, Neurological Problems – (07-30-01)

IOM Scrutinizes Link Between Vaccines, Neurological Problems

The arrogance of the powers that be that control the PR on vaccines never ceases to amaze me. Everyone accepts that the ethylmercury present in the preservative thimerosal used in certain vaccines has the potential to accumulate in infants’ tissues at levels far exceeding accepted standards. But, say the powers that be, there is no cause for concern. In the same breath they say that thimerosal as a preservative is being phased out (at great expense, I might add…).

(article) Amidst concern about mercury content in vaccines commonly administered to children and a possible link to autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Institute of Medicine convened a meeting of their Immunization Safety Review Committee, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Monday. The multidisciplinary committee, chaired by Marie McCormick, MD, ScD, of the Harvard School of Public Health, has been charged with assessing a possible causal relationship between inoculations and adverse health consequences, and disseminating the results of the assessment to the public.Immunizations for Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), hepatitis B, diphtheria, and tetanus toxoids with acellular pertussis (DTaP) have been a source of controversy in recent years because they use thimerosal, a preservative containing low levels of ethylmercury (EtHg), which can cause neurological damage. Pregnant women and fetuses are at highest risk from exposure. The metal is excreted from the body over time. However, according to a review conducted by the Food and Drug Administration in 2000, infants younger than 6 months may accumulate EtHg at levels that exceed federal safety guidelines established for the intake of another highly toxic mercury, methyl mercury, which occurs naturally in seafood.Exposure to large amounts of metallic, inorganic, or organic mercury can permanently damage the brain, kidneys, and a developing fetus. Irritability, shyness, tremors, changes in vision or hearing, and memory problems may result.Although thimerosal has been used in biologics since the 1930s, an increased number of vaccinations combined with a sharp rise in reported autism and ADHD incidence has caused parents and some physicians to question the safety of the inoculations. Preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, suggest a weak correlation between vaccine-related thimerosal exposure and incidence of language and speech delays, along with other neurological problems. In a joint statement made in July 1999 and finalized in June 2000, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the US Public Health Service, and others emphasized that the risks of not vaccinating children far outweigh the possible problem of cumulative exposure to thimerosal. They note, however that “because any potential risk is of concern, and the elimination of exposure to mercury in the form of thimerosal from vaccines is feasible, thimerosal should be removed from vaccines as soon as possible.”Except for DtaP, thimerosal-free versions of pediatric vaccines are available. The measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine does not contain thimerosal. Parents groups have implicated MMR in the rise in cases of autism, although the CDC and an IOM panel have found no association.
