PLANNING ON GETTING PREGNANT? THINK AHEAD TO AVOID BREAST CANCER. When it comes to stopping breast cancer, some solutions are obvious (exercise, more fruits and veggies, less animal saturated fat, more healthy oils, less stress), but others are not so clear. In this case, it is up to the national organizations (ACS, Komen) to get the word out about prevention issues that need more clarification. This is just such a situation. While this is an animal study, the researchers found out that Bisphenol A exposure in the womb primed the breast cells for cancer. So we can’t say that avoiding drinking out of plastic water bottles will definitively lower your risk of breast cancer, but it seems like a smart idea to me. After all, what harm (other than to the plastics industry) is there from this approach? But this is where the popular national organizations completely drop the ball. Instead, look to groups like www.AICR.org and www.EWG.org for the REAL info on how to lower our rates of cancer.
