Hunger and high nutrient diets

October 17, 2022 by James Bogash

IT’S THE QUALITY, STUPID…  Of the uncountable diets that are out there, none that I am aware of balance the quality of the food to the calorie.  Some, like Weight Watchers, look only at the calorie.  Others, like Atkins, look only at the macronutrients.  There is no doubt that our bodies do much better with a low calorie, high phytonutrient diet for long term health.  This means that your 1200 calories / day comes from broccoli and not a Big Mac Value meal.  This particular study further supports this, finding that a high quality diet alters our hunger in a positive way.  We all need to look at every morsel that crosses our lips as having phytonutrient value or not.  If it does NOT have value, we should not be eating it.  Then we take into account calorie content…so while dark chocolate is loaded with polyphenols, it is higher in calories so keep it to a minimum.  Tea and espresso, on the other hand, are virtually calorie free, and can be taken in more liberally.  This is exactly how we structure our weight loss program here at the clinic.

3 Reasons Why You Should Have a Second Thought Before Going Ahead with Chiropractic Care

August 19, 2019 by James Bogash

Chiropractic Mesa, AZ

What is a chiropractor? A chiropractor is a practitioner of complementary medicine based on the patient’s diagnosis, and also the manipulative treatment of joints and misalignments of the joints. That is what Wikipedia says in the most formal tone possible. But to be more informal, a chiropractic care is basically the magic of using force on the pressure points of your body to an ultimate level, in order to help heal your dislocated joints or correct the alignment of the bone structure.

For the longest period of time there have been multiple controversies and debates surrounding Chiropractic care and if it is actually as magically beneficial as it sounds.

Here are some of the controversies which might give you a second thought before your next session with a chiropractor:

  1. Chiropractic Cure is Rooted in Mystical Concepts

The procedures of chiropractic care is based upon ancient beliefs and practices that are no longer relevant in the modern world of practitioners, who go for treatments which are scientifically proven remedies and concepts to cure patients. Long back when chiropractic care was famous, the patients were not subjected to knowing the factual evidence behind the therapy. Hence, they were unaware of the true treatment of chiropractic cure. However, nowadays people are more exposed to factual evidence which is why chiropractic care becomes a questionable form of treatment with no solid scientific evidence to back up these practices.

  1. Illegal Licenses and Fraudulent Chiropractors

Since chiropractic care is not a highly scientifically evident or fact-dependent form of cure, many illegal practitioners and chiropractors can be found in the localities. Government bodies do not regulate with proper governance or fraudulently licensed practitioners are never found under the radar. Many such illegally practicing chiropractors find a way for themselves to make easy money and rob the clients without doing any help to them. Sometimes it adds on to a patient’s burden by increasing external health related problems caused by the treatment itself.

  1. Catalyst to Bigger Health Problems

Chiropractic care, if gone wrong, can cause serious complications associated with chiropractic adjustment. Worsening of an existing disk herniation, compression of nerves in the lower back, a certain type of stroke or vertebral artery dissection, are all complications that could be caused by the wrong form of chiropractic treatments.

Conclusion

Before your next session with your chiropractor from LifeCare Chiropractic for chiropractic care in Mesa, AZ, do consider all these questionable and controversial topics to be able to get the best treatment suitable for your health.

Are chiropractors doctors? 5 truths and myths

April 25, 2019 by James Bogash

Mesa AZ Chiropractor

Chiropractic treatment is a form of treating and diagnosing any kind of mechanical disorder related to the human musculoskeletal system. Contrary to popular belief, chiropractors are actual doctors. Although not medical doctors, they have to attend at least graduate level health institutions.

Apart from relieving the patients from neck and back pains, chiropractic care also relieves from pain in the bones and soft tissues. There are many myths surrounding chiropractic care. Some of the myths are debunked below:

Myth No. 1: Once started, there is no end to chiropractic care.

Truth: chiropractic care is just like any other treatment. It is only to be taken when you are under any kind of problem-related to bones and soft tissue. The chiropractor at first looks into the reason behind the pain and refers to the chiropractic treatment based on the necessity. Once treated, there is no constant need to keep going back, at least for the same reason.

Myth No. 2: Mesa AZ Chiropractors aren’t considered as real doctors.

Truth: Aforementioned, chiropractors have to attend at least a graduate-level health college in order to be certified as one. Although they aren’t medical doctors, they are considered as actual doctors.

Myth No. 3: Chiropractic care is only for adults.

Truth: Children can be given chiropractic treatment as well based on their problem. A few studies also indicate that chiropractic care can actually help to strengthen the nervous system as well as the immune system of the children. The growth of the spinal cord may also be facilitated.

Myth No. 4: Chiropractic adjustments are painful.

Truth: Irrespective of the painful sound heard during the treatment, it is actually not a painful experience. Rather, a lot of patients have shared that they felt a sudden release of stress and also a pleasant feeling after the cracking. Due to the release of gas bubbles between the joints, the stress that had been bothering you for a long time finally goes away.

Myth No. 5: Chiropractic care is expensive.

Truth: a lot of patients may be unaware of the fact that chiropractic care is actually inexpensive. It is so because when someone consults a Mesa AZ chiropractor before consulting actual surgeons, they get to know about the actual problems beforehand. Sometimes, the problem in question is actually solvable by chiropractic treatment. As a result, extra medical bills, hospital bills, and Surgery bills can be avoided.

Chiropractic Cracks & Adjustments

April 25, 2019 by James Bogash

Rotator Cuff Chiropractor Mesa, AZ

A Mesa AZ Chiropractor is a professional on health care who gives alternative medical treatments to neuromuscular problems. They are able to treat the pains on shoulders, jaws, head, pelvis, hips, elbows, ankles and knees.

Chiropractic Crack

A chiropractic crack basically indicates a cracking sound that is heard when a chiropractor treats you. The noise of this crack is known as “Cavitation”. It happens when a bubble of gas forms in the joint. But, the interesting fact is that the chiropractors never crack the bones. Rather, they try to create movement and space on the joint.

Chiropractic Adjustment

A Mesa AZ Chiropractic adjustment is conducted by the chiropractors in such a way where they use little instruments or, their hands in order to impose a quick and controlled force on the spinal joint. They just simply align the joints in a new way and increases the motion range. The aim of this is nothing but, to improve the functioning of the body.

Why Chiropractic Adjustment is done

Pain in the neck, head or, back are the very common reasons for which people go for the adjustments.

Risks of Chiropractic Adjustment

It is not at all risky when performed by a licensed and trained professional. Complications are rare but, might include the followings:

  •       Worst herniated disk.
  •       Nerve compression in the lower end of the spinal cord.
  •       Vertebral artery dissection after the manipulation of the neck.

When to Avoid Chiropractic Adjustments

Avoid seeking chiropractic adjustments in case of the followings:

  •       Serious osteoporosis.
  •       Lack of strength, tingling or, numbness in the leg or, arm.
  •       Spine cancer.
  •       Having a risk of stroke.
  •       Abnormality in the bone of the neck.

Preparation

There is no such significant preparation that needs to be taken before this type of adjustments. It requires several visits to the chiropractor.

A majority of the people get relief from their disorders within 6-10 visits. These type of treatments are often covered by different insurance policies on health. However, one might need to check the number of treatments that are being covered within the given period of time.

Expectations

At the very first visit, a chiropractor will be asking you questions regarding health history and might ask you to take part in a physical exam. It will particularly focus on your spine. He might, if required, recommend you with other tests or, examinations, such as:

  •       X-ray.
  •      Computed tomography (CT) scan.
  •      Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.

He might also recommend certain therapies like: Advice on diet, nutrition or, weight, heat or, ice therapy, massage. Exercise, stretches, stress management practice, etc.

During the Adjustment

Here, your Mesa AZ chiropractor will place you in a certain position to do the treatment. You might have to acquire the position keeping the face downwards on the chiropractic table.

Now, the Mesa AZ chiropractor will start using small instruments or, his hands to apply force to the joints and create a motion range. It is during this time that you might get to hear cracking noise from the affected parts.

After the Adjustment

A minority of the people face side effects after the adjustment procedure. These side effects include: Fatigue, headaches, Pain in the affected parts, etc.

Overview

It is to be kept in mind that, not everyone gets relief from chiropractic treatment. So, if your conditions are not improving after the treatment, you should switch to the alternates rather than sticking to the adjustment procedures of the rotator cuff chiropractor Mesa, AZ offers. However, if the treatment really suits you, you won’t have to go to any other physician for the pain since it will be gone completely.

Bad Disc Slowing You Down?

February 24, 2019 by James Bogash

Herniated Disc Doctor

Almost everyone will experience low back pain at some point in life. Often, the pain is caused by a problem with the disc, or the little cushions between the vertebrae in the spine. An MRI is a definitive way to evaluate damage to the disc but this is typically not ordered until after you’ve tried 4-6 weeks of conservative care first. Symptoms of a bad disc may include low back pain, numbness in the extremities, weakness, the feeling of pains and needles, burning pain or in severe cases, incontinence or numbness in the groin.

Bottom Line: Spinal discs play an essential role in your low back, acting as small shock absorbers and giving you the ability to move in many different directions. Your discs are comprised of two major parts- an outer ring of cartilage which provides support and a jelly-like center that facilities motion. As age and injuries catch up with us, the disc can herniate. A herniated disc is when the middle (the jelly) of the disc breaks through the outer wall irritating a spinal nerve and causing severe pain in your back or leg. Researchers have found this most often occurs between the ages of 35-50.

Why it Matters: Almost everyone knows someone who has suffered from pain caused by a herniated, slipped, or bulging disc. The pain can be so intense that many people think surgery is the only way to correct it. Well, we have good news. Research has shown people who choose chiropractic adjustments had the same amount of relief as those who chose surgery! And what about those medications that mask the pain but fail to correct the problem? Well, research has shown chiropractic adjustment to be significantly better than many of the common drugs prescribed for back pain. Here are some takeaway points:

  • Top-research journal, SPINE, has recommended the use of adjustments for back pain
  • Adjustments were shown to provide significantly more relief than medications
  • Adjustments have been shown to be just as effective as surgery for taking care of herniated discs

Next Steps: Your spinal discs stay healthy by having strong muscular support and a full range of motion. Keep your spine stabilizing muscles healthy by committing to daily exercise. And what about maintaining a full range of motion? It’s easy! Chiropractic adjustments with a herniated disc doctor offers are a gentle and effective way to help restore proper range of motion in your neck, mid-back, and low back. When your spine is moving well with appropriate support- you are going to be feeling great.

What Are the Benefits of Chiropractic Care For Triathletes?

January 25, 2019 by James Bogash

Triathlon Trainer

Triathletes spend much of their time in between triathlons training for the next one with a coach, like a triathlon trainer. This comes in the form of gym workouts, outdoor routines, stretching, zeroing in on nutrition, and making sure they have the right gear. One thing that any triathlete should add to their training routine, however, is chiropractic care. Why is this important? Triathletes are usually in the best shape of their lives. Don’t they only need to see a doctor when they have injured themselves? The answer is simply no! A chiropractic doctor can be a great addition to your training program before and after your big race. Not only can a chiropractor help you recover after a strenuous triathlon, but they can also help prepare your body for the oncoming race and even help you prevent future injuries. This means completing harder workouts and challenging yourself even more at your next race.

The Top Benefits For Triathletes

There are several benefits when it comes to chiropractic visits for triathletes.

  1. It Can Treat Injuries. Probably one of the most obvious benefits is that it can indeed treat many injuries you may sustain during a triathlon or during your triathlon training. A chiropractor can help enhance your blood circulation which stimulates healing to injured areas, and they can also apply certain techniques to relax sore and stiff muscles. Specialized spinal manipulation can even help heal leg and ankle pain, back pain, and headaches.
  2. It Offers a Non-Invasive Treatment. Many triathletes will avoid invasive treatments (like surgery) and opt for a drug-free treatment if that is an option. With chiropractic care, you can typically go from your treatment back to your life quickly, unlike with a surgery. Additionally, most triathletes do not want to use medications or drugs for their pain, and chiropractic care can be a great alternative.
  3. It Can Prevent Your Injuries From Happening. While chiropractic care can help relieve your pain after injuries, certain treatments can also help prevent injuries. Your chiropractor can teach you at-home stretches, massages, and techniques to keep your muscle loose, help with nerve pain, and ease soreness that can prevent further injury and help get you back on track much quicker.
  4. It Can Increase Your Strength. A triathlete must be strong. Their bodies go through rigorous daily training to prepare them for swimming, biking, and running many miles. To do this, they must be limber, flexible, and strong. Chiropractic care can help promote your balance and strength with spine realignment, electro-stimulation, and massages.
  5. It Can Give You a Larger Range of Motion. Stiff joints and muscles mean a less flexible triathlete. When this is the case, their stroke is not as broad and their running may get off. When this happens, their overall performance decreases. However, chiropractic care can undo the stiffness and promote more mobility.

If you are still unsure of how chiropractic care can help with your triathlon performance and training, do not hesitate to reach out to a chiropractor today.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help Your Triathlon Training

January 21, 2019 by James Bogash

Top Chiropractor

Many people visit the chiropractor on a regular basis whether or not they play sports or conduct strenuous workouts. Chiropractic care can be beneficial whether you are younger, older, pregnant, or have an injury. However, those who undertake extreme sports, like triathlons, are more prone to injuries and are at-risk for physical ailments more than the average person. Triathletes undergo specialized training with a triathlon coach offers to prepare their bodies for one of the hardest challenges it can go through, and because of this, many chiropractors are designing their treatments around the lifestyle of the triathletes they work with. Chronic or acute injuries can significantly slow down triathletes, and with the right chiropractic care, they can be on their way to smoother training and quicker recovery.

Common Triathlete Injuries

It is not uncommon for triathletes to sustain different injuries during the course of their training or through the actual race. Common injuries are:

  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Muscle Strains
  • Neck and Shoulder Pain
  • Shin Splints
  • Swimmer’s Shoulder
  • Knee Pain, and
  • Nerve Damage

What Causes These Types of Damage?

When you speak with your chiropractor, they will likely ask you many questions so they can understand what type of training you do and how you get your injuries. For example, many triathletes suffer from a misaligned spine which can cause pinched nerves and extreme tension. Your chiropractor may treat you with spinal adjustments in addition to recommending switching up your running surfaces (like running on a track, on dirt, or on grass) and running on firmer ground.

What Are Benefits To Chiropractic Care For Triathletes?

Many athletes—triathletes included—prefer more natural forms of treatment so they can be at the top of their game both mentally and physically while they prepare and perform in their races. Chiropractic care offers natural alternatives without heavy medications while the triathlete trains. Additionally, some injuries that a triathlete might have undergone surgery for might fix itself over the course of a few consistent chiropractic treatments. This also gives triathletes the ability to perform simple chiropractic techniques at home, and it can help them recover from future injuries quicker.

Chiropractors can also help improve your mobility. When you work the same muscles daily, your body becomes stressed and tense, causing a lack of mobility. This is one of your top assets as a triathlete, and when a chiropractor performs the proper adjustments, you may notice a better stride in your run and a stronger, broader stroke in your swimming.

What Should You Expect From Your First Chiropractic Visit?

Your chiropractor will likely want to know what types of workouts you do, how often you do them, and whether you will use your techniques at home. They can work with you best when they understand how your body reacts to your workouts and how often an injury might occur before, during, and after your races.

5 Reasons to go to a chiropractor

January 20, 2019 by James Bogash

Chiropractor Mesa, AZ

Chiropractic is a profession in the area of health that is dedicated to the health care of people naturally. It emphasizes the relationship between the spine and the functioning of the nervous system; this is because if the nervous system works optimally, the organ systems will have better functioning.

If you unsure about the benefits you could get by going to a chiropractor, here are 5 Reasons to go to a chiropractor.

  1. Safety

Chiropractic is one of the safest options to improve your health status. It is an excellent alternative because you do not need medication, surgery and you will not have side effects. Using manipulative techniques called “adjustments”, your body will find its ideal alignment and will adapt to the changes that will provide a great benefit to your health.

Some manipulative techniques cause an adaptation process of approximately 48 hours, in which the person may present stiffness and generalized pain. This is due to the new positioning caused by the manipulative technique used by the chiropractor.

  1. Professional care

You will be in the hands of professionals in the health area. Chiropractic is a university career with duration between 6 to 8 years depending on the country in which you study. To obtain the title of the chiropractor, people must have extensive knowledge about anatomy, physiology, and human biomechanics, as well as practical knowledge in specific manipulation techniques.

In some countries, you must ensure that the chiropractor you choose is licensed and registered to ensure the effectiveness of your treatment. Currently, there are many people who claim to be chiropractors but don’t have the qualifications or the necessary knowledge to apply manipulative techniques in the spine, which could cause adverse effects to your health.

  1. Comprehensive care

Chiropractic manages a natural care approach; in this, the patient is the protagonist of their changes. The chiropractor applying holistic techniques works with the patient so that he understands the basic pillars of health as an integral way of caring.

In order for the patient to achieve optimal health, the chiropractor teaches him about postural care, the position and time he should sleep, helps him develop in the workplace to prevent future injuries and encourages him to do exercise and visit a nutritionist to obtain a healthy diet.

  1. Prevention

In addition to the above, prevention is a point at which chiropractors emphasize. People can go to a professional in this area at any time they wish, regardless of the state of health in which they are, but advocate that people take care of their spine from the start.

  1. Treatment for different pathologies

Thanks to the extensive knowledge that a chiropractor Mesa, AZ offers at LifeCare Chiropractic has about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, in addition to manipulative techniques for different parts of the body you can treat a wide variety of ailments and pathologies. These include neck pain, whether due to stress or an established condition, headache, shoulder pathologies, low back pain, knee injuries and, clearly, spinal dysfunctions.
