Low Back Pain

If you are suffering from pain in your lower back, you are not alone! Researchers estimate that more than eighty percent of us will experience low-back pain at some point in our lives. Low-back pain is even more common now than it was fifty years ago, because we spend more time sitting – in cars, at computers, watching television – and less time walking, bending and stretching.

What causes low-back pain?

Most patients with low-back pain have several problems that combine to cause their discomfort. They may have dysfunctions in their discs, joints, bones, nerves, muscles, ligaments and/or tendons.

Is the pain in my leg related to a problem in my lower back?

Possibly, but not necessarily. Not all leg pain is caused by sciatica; the problem may actually be in your hips.

What can Lifecare Chiropractic do for my low-back pain?

At Lifecare Chiropractic we take a thorough, comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating your low-back pain. We evaluate all of your joints and soft tissues, checking your legs, hips and entire spinal column so that we don’t miss any causes of your pain. We study your posture and the ergonomics of your home, office and car. We gather information about your sports, hobbies and activities.

We treat low-back pain with a combination of chiropractic manipulation, soft-tissue treatments and exercise. Some possible treatments are:

  • Flexion/Distraction Manipulation: A very controlled traction of the lumbar spine.
  • The Graston Technique: A treatment for soft-tissue problems that uses specially-designed tools to break down scar tissue.
  • Massage Therapy
  • Neuromuscular Reeducation: The use of balance exercises to help you maintain proper posture and movement.
